Craft: Punxsutawney Phil / Phyllis puppet

We made these groundhog puppets this week to try and predict when spring will come. This craft was inspired by Mrs. Jones’ Room and the groundhogs came from her template here.

Supplies: Dixie cups, craft sticks and groundhog templates

Supplies: Dixie cups, craft sticks and groundhog templates

Directions:

1. Use scissors to slice a hole in the bottom of the cup.
(I either do this ahead of time or ask the parents to complete this part of the project.)

2. Color and cut out your groundhog.

3. Tape or glue your groundhog to the popsicle stick.

4. Slide stick through the slot at the bottom of the cup and have fun playing peekaboo with your groundhog!

(Note: I purchased flowery Dixie cups, but you could use any kind and then attach green constrution paper to the outside to resemble grass.)

Finished groundhog puppet. Ta da!
